G'day Jimmy
I was in Canberra for the day, in the bowls of parliament house, working on AM and The World Today so I only saw it on TV like most people and didn't get to see the event but the vibe was something big. This wouldn't have happened in the Lying Rodents time.
A Koori woman in our studio said that she felt she could now go along to an Australia Day function for the first time in her life.
Perhaps we are getting somewhere.
I took AM to broadcast from Maningrida in the NT last year and had Howard's intervention team follow us in there. Things are still crook in Tallarook, as Angus used to like to say, but I think we may be starting to address the issue again.
My nephews have shown me that the band are back in town for some more gigs and a launch of Volume 2 of S o t S. Stay tuned.
Cheers
Alan -- thanks for the personal perspective. You're absolutely right this was unthinkable under the old regime; I just hope you're also right about the followup. And thanks for the news about the band -- keep us informed, eh?!
