Excuses, Excuses

"Punk rock is not an excuse for 50-year-old men to squeeze into leather trousers and sing Where Have All the Bootboys Gone?" he says. "And if you do think it’s a good excuse then you've missed the whole point of punk rock." β€” Andy Radwan in a Grauniad article last Saturday on the persistence of punk.

(He's right about the advisability of middle-aged guys and leather trousers, but I'm very leery of talking about "the whole point of punk" β€” wasn't the whole point that there wasn't a point β€” or, at least, just one point? That there wasn't a Punk so much as as a bunch of punks?)
