Good Nutty Fun
In the week of Chris Marker's death, it's kind of appropriate that his "la Jetée" made the BFI's latest "The Top 50 Greatest Films of All Time" (at number 50); I think I'd have preferred his "Sans Soleil", but never mind. But to have Hitchcock's slightly-garish, overheated, implausibly-plotted, over-acted creaking sprawl of a film "Vertigo" creep up to number one seems a little surreal. As the commenter put it on the original TS entry, it's good nutty fun; but number one?
