What immediately came to mind when I read about Elon Musk's Hyperloop proposal was the sheer claustrophobia and (possibly) motion sickness involved in sitting reclined in a two metre wide windowless tube for an hour. And what if it breaks down – are you stuck in the car inside a narrow sealed tunnel for a few hours without any way out – or even a toilet?

Otherwise, as someone who commutes to LA from SF at least once a week, I rather like the idea. There's got to be a better way than endlessly bickering about a deliberately-crippled, relatively-slow “bullet train” between here and LA….
