There’s an interesting article in the latest New Yorker on Paul Debevec’s light stage and the digital cloning of actors. Lots of philosophical and cultural issues to do with all that, for sure, but the one thing they didn’t touch on much (if at all) was the obvious use for technology like this: porn. If some enterprising person or team out there hasn’t visually cloned the genitals, breasts, etc., (or even whole bodies) of suitably-endowed porn stars and set up pornographic video games where the players do what they could obviously do with all this in the next ten years or so, I’ll eat my virtual hat.Like so much new tech, it seems absolutely tailor-made for porn….
